This week we welcomed Samah Hijawi for a two-week residency at wpZimmer where she’ll be focussing on “Chasing Za’atar – from Jordan to Belgium”. While in residency, Samah invites you for a sharing moment on Thursday, February 10 at 18:00 for a moment of sharing food and conversations around daily, practices of resistance in relation to food making. For the upcoming two weeks we are joined by dancer and choreographer Elena Carvajal and visual artist and dancer Maïte Álvarez as they work on The Underground and the Portal. The work is an experiment on the creation of an almost fictional almost real installation-space. In where, movement, voice, sound, visitors, chance… fluctuate.

For the upcoming two weeks we welcome two artists: Argentinian choreographer Paula Almiron and Costa Rican-Nicaraguan artist Mario José Barrantes Espinoza for two different residencies.
Paula Almiron will be focussing on the second phase of her work ‘Always coming hole’ (ACH): a long term research project working at the intersection of choreography, fictional writing and geology.
Mario José Barrantes Espinoza will be working on EL CANTAR DEL PLAYO OR… A SONG IS A ROSE IS A THORN where he and Pablo Esbert Lilienfeld will navigate through the vast sound-worlds of the plancha genre.
During the past week we had Giulia Deval and Andrea Marazzi in residency, this time joining us through the digital spheres! During their residency they explored three questions:
*How do you create a natural cultural language closer to husmusities than to humanities?
*How do you use dubbing as a practice of fictiocriticism?
*How do you go back from the creators of knowledge to the non-human elements that made up their thought?
On the night of Friday, November 19th we closed our Open Call for 2022-2023! A big thank you to everyone who shared, spread the word, and of course the over 300 people that sent in their application. wpZimmer and the external jury will be reviewing each application and we hope to get back to the applicants early January.
For two weeks, starting on November 8th, Scarlet Tummers is joining us at wpZimmer for her residency. During this two week period, she is focussing on Jerusalem – a work she’s currently working on in collaboration with Atta Nasser.
