Lennert De Vroey
Lennert De Vroey (°1994) works as a writer, theater maker and artistic researcher, both individually and collectively, in long-term and ad hoc collaborations. Taking on a research-driven approach, he has an interest in ao food, logistics, memory and history. Having written a thesis on depoliticization, he likes to put politics at the heart of his artistic practice.
He’s currently working on a project about palm trees, touching on the relation between food and theater. Through the research and writing for ‘A Travel Guide for IKEA restaurants’, he explores the tension and interplay between globalized and local food culture. With Ella Dalemans & Johannes Lievens, he approaches food culture through storytelling by facilitating speculative popular feasts, sparking collective imagination about specific ingredients.
In 2022-2023, his research Pondering/Theremin is running at the Royal Conservatory. He’s a co-founder of Parole and was part of the Montignards trajectory at Monty (2021). He studied Drama/Woordkunst (Royal Conservatory Antwerp) and International Politics (Ghent University). Lennert currently lives in Brussels.
