ON MOBILISATION
ON MOBILISATION AND LEARNING: Programme
On Mobilisation is the result of four organisations: wpZimmer (Antwerp), Studio ALTA (Prague), Baltic Art Center (Gotland), Lavanderia a Vapore (Turin) and six invited artists : Danae Theodoridou, Ahilan Ratnamohan, Marika Smreková, Kalle Brolin, Elisabetta Consonni and Daniele Ninarello and associated partners ARIA and GRASS joining their knowledge, hands-on experience, spaces and communities to focus on social/community mobilisation through artistic processes.
The aim is to ignite a bottom-up process of bringing together and engaging individuals to participate in positive change towards greater social justice and equality through cultural participation.
This month of the On Mobilisation calendar brings forward several activities that invite our communities to join us in this objective. Explore our October agenda and read about the activities that took place, and will take place and how you can be part of them!
AN ATTEMPT TO DEVICE A DEMOCRATIC ASSEMBLY
SAT. OCT 14 AND SUN. OCT 15 at wpZimmer
During this experimental performance taking place at wpZimmer, we create our own democratic assembly, where we share our views on democracy and social coexistence, guided by a script set up by artist-researcher Danae Theodoridou who is also facilitating the process. As a participant, you’re handed the script at the beginning and everyone is assigned a ‘role’ usually found in an assembly: the speaker, the listener, the moderator. The script is used as a playful proposal that guides us in what to do or say, or even refuse to do or say when disagreeing with the script.
EVENING SCHOOL ON MOBILISATION AND LEARNING
The three-day long Evening School “On Mobilisation and Learning” focusses on alternative and informal ways of learning.
DAY 1:: Reactivating the Public Body |
WEDNESDAY 18.10 // 19:00 – 21:00 Location: wpZimmer (Gasstraat 90, 2060 ANTWERP)FREE ENTRY |
Heleen de Hoon moderates the evening with David Limaverde, Ahilan Ratnamohan, Anna Rispoli, Lara Staal and Danae Theodoridou to discuss the relation between the performing arts and political emancipation. This discussion departs from Theodoridou’s suggestion that performance today should operate as an act of ‘publicing’, namely as a frame for constructing public space and time anew, providing alternatives to capitalism. |
