Katinka De Jonge

wpZimmer resident in 2021

Katinka de Jonge works as an artist, researcher, and organizer. Her work emerges in dialogue with specific places and communities. She explores what happens “between the lines” and draws connections between fleeting conversations, archival material, and less visible processes. Using sound, text, installation, and performance, she navigates the space between documentation, montage, and imagination. By subverting expectations, shifting roles, and revealing unwritten rules, she playfully challenges what seems self-evident with humor and absurdity. In addition to her solo practice, she forms the duo Te Jong & Te Laet with Liesje De Laet. In 2026, she earned a Ph.D. from Hasselt University with her dissertation Dialogical Landscapes: A Speculative Research on Common Ground(ing), which explores collectivity and self-organized art practices. She has written contributions for publications including COLLATERAL – Online Journal for Cross-Cultural Close Reading, Openbare Werken, 019, and Humdrum Press. Her work has been presented at or supported by M HKA, NW Aalst, Lugar A Dudas, KAAP, NICC, ARIA, Arteles, Extra City, VIERNULVIER, Werktank, De Koer, WP Zimmer, Kunsthal Gent, and Roodkapje, among others.
