James Leadbitter aka the vacuum cleaner is een kunst en activistencollectief. Aan de hand van verschillende vormen, zoals performance, installatie en film, haalt the vacuum cleaner verschillende provocerende onderwerpen, zoals consumerisme en mentale gezondheid, aan. Recente internationale commissies zijn Festespiele/Gessnerallee (Zurich) en Vooruit/Dr. Guislain museum (Gent). Hij stichtte mede the Laboratory of Insurrectionary Imagination en is Artsadmin Artist.
