The Heroic Moment

The Heroic Moment is a solo performance that looks at heroism and the way heroes come to exist. Celebrating the art of storytelling, THM takes us on a journey on which fiction and fact start to blur as we move in between autobiography and the world of imagination and fantasy.

The work combines theatre and dance bringing movement in dialogue with text and writing. Light design and costume design are an integral part of the performance and in a dynamic relationship with the performer on stage.

Inspired by Joseph Campbell’s The Hero with a Thousand Faces the piece looks at the construction of an archetypal hero story in relation to contemporary heroic figures like the superheroes of comic books. The piece embraces both the tragedy and comedy of heroism and celebrates the option of failure and anti-heroism.
