The Belgian-Swedish choreographer Robin Jonsson is a typical product of the PlayStation generation. An investigation of the boundaries between artificial and non-artificial is a major theme in his work. What would ‘reality’ mean to an artificial being, such as a robot or a puppet, or to a virtual being, such as a manga character? Does imitation of imitation begin to approach reality? In Simulations Jonsson shows us the surprising forms reality can assume, after it has been replicated in a virtual world and then turned back into reality on stage. He drew his inspiration from films such as Blade Runner and I, Robot.
