Recipes for Disaster: Greetings from Nagasaki (2016)

Under the name ‘Domestic Science Club’, Gosie Vervloessem tries for several years to simulate natural disasters on the scale of the home, garden and kitchen. Thas has led to ‘Recipes for Disaster’, an unusual collection of actions that has questioned our need for control. Currently Gosie is developing ‘Greeting from Nagasaki’, a lecture-performance about the Japanese Knotweed. This invasive species is well known in our regions. The story of this plant is the starting point for a cooking session and at the same time a good moment to reflect on the theme of migration in a quasi-scientific, poetic-absurd way.

During wpZimmer OpenHouse of June 2017, Gosie for the first time experimented with an improvised live music by guitar player Elko Blijweert, known from Dead Man Ray, Rudy Trouvé Septet, Gruppo di Pawlowski, and his own jazz combo Franco Saint de Bakker.
