Elisabeth Borgermans
Elisabeth Borgermans studied Dance at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and Language and Literature at KU Leuven. She created, among others, the performance To Paint is to Love Again (2016, in collaboration with De NWE Vorst and DansBrabant) and the duet No (2017, with Companhia Instável), zooming in on dance, pop music and 19th-century poetry. In 2018, Elisabeth was in residence at
P.A.R.T.S./Rosas, KAAP Bruges, Companhia Instável, Teatro Municipal do Porto Rivoli and DansBrabant, among others.
Throughout her practice, she investigates the different forces present in the dancing body using procedures and themes from literature, philosophy and cinema. In Elisabeth’s work, the body is anything but silent. The body is a vehicle: all available tools of the body are deployed in search of a reformulation – of the world around us, of the medium of dance itself perhaps.
From 2020-2022, Elisabeth created and performed two successful dance productions with national and international appeal. Contemporary interpretations of classical symphonic music and ancient literary text took center stage. She was involved as a choreographer in the creation of Electric Life, a production of fABULEUS and a co-production of Concertgebouw Brugge and Brussels Philharmonic around the music of Igor Stravinsky. Moreover, she created the solo Zäsur, in musical collaboration with Alain Franco, co-produced by C-TAKT, DansBrabant, Vlaams Cultuurhuis De Brakke Grond, Perpodium, Cultuurhuis de War.
