Keerthi Basavarajaiah

Keerthi Basavarajaiah is a multi-disciplinary performance maker of Indian origin, currently based in Amsterdam for over 7 years. As a maker, her sensibilities, questions & felt urgencies emerge from the need for relating & relations between presumptuous modes of othering of information and bodies. Keerthi’s working process is a play with cross-pollination of methodologies, to facilitate a field of curiosity, to re-imagining & revisit our habitual encounters within our surroundings reflected in everyday materiality, routes, and behaviors.

Coming from a multi-biographical context of given and chosen realities, she thrives to create generative spaces for the body to attune to emerging conditions, tapping into the adaptable nature of performative conditions. Revealing vulnerabilities through ‘minor dances’ to connect from our need for empathic behaviors, within the environments we share. She derives from the knowledge of gestures, rhythms, and synesthetic compositions to develop movement languages. These vocabularies are gestures of interconnected play, along with influences that take forms such as puppetry as a medium of the extensive limbs, mood-scapes, and crafting emerging objects/tools.
