Inga Huld Hákonardóttir

Inga Huld Hákonardóttir was born in Höfn, Iceland and now lives and works in Brussels. After graduating from P.A.R.T.S in 2014 she has worked within the field of performance as a performer, dancer and choreographer.
As collaborator and performer Inga worked with Eleanor Bauer and composer Chris Peck in the contemporary musical, MEYOUCYCLE. She danced for Salva Sanchis in his most recent works Islands and Radical Light and performed/collaborated with the contemporary music ensembles ICTUS and GAME (Ghent Advanced Master Ensemble) in their project Ballet Mekanique. She also performs in Traces, a work by Rósa Ómarsdóttir. Inga created several works in different collaborative constellations and has worked extensively with Rósa Ómarsdóttir. Their works include The Valley, Wilhelm Scream, and Da Da Dans; a commission for The Icelandic Dance Company. With Katie Vickers she created Slogan For Modern Times and the trio We Will Have Had Darker Futures together with choreographer Rebecca Stillman. In 2019 she premiered with Against the Sunset.

We Will Have Had Darker Futures
We Will Have Had Darker Futures attempts to weave together the past, present and future; to ask the present to welcome a desirable future by acknowledging the past, and to mix it all up into a time loop allowing our sense of temporality to be blurred.
We Will Have Had Darker Futures thinks of possible new futures through daydreaming, language, and dance while continually emphasizing the passage of time in the act of collective finger knitting. Playing with our sense of anticipation, We Will Have Had Darker Futures is a short term detachment from our immediate surroundings, a visionary parallel reality that contemplates the bounds between past and present.

Again, The Sunset
“Do you remember how real it was that time when we were both so colored by the sun? Do you remember how real it was that time when we were both clouds? Or we were one cloud rather, a unified cloud, colored pink by the sunset.”
Again, The Sunset is where identity is multiplied over and over again by what it touches. It moves. It is a song, a speech and a story. It is a hard rock made hard when you hold it. It is quiet. And then it gets so loud.
Again, The Sunset invites the audience to witness an intimate thought process and contemplation where sounds and their textures exist undeniably attached to the materiality of their instruments; yet the body of sound is constantly transforming itself.
In the past Inga Huld Hákonardóttir has been invited by wpZimmer. Two times together with Katie Vickers (We will have had darker futures (2017); together with Rebecca Stillman and Slogan for Modern Times (2015)) and for The Valley (2015) of Rósa Ómarsdóttir. For her current residency she works together with Yann Leguay, Brussel-based artist who focuses mostly on the notions of dematerialization, the use of interfaces and everything about the materiality of memory.
