Betty Tchomanga was born in a French region of Charente-Maritime in 1989 to a Cameroonian father and French mother. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She started dancing at the age of 9, as she took jazz and classical dance classes. Then from 2004 to 2006 she studied at the Conservatoire de Bordeaux as well as with Alain Gonotey Cie Lullaby. In 2007 her interest turned towards contemporary dance and Betty joined a choreographic artists course in Centre National de Danse Contemporaine in Angers (CNDC) supervised by Emmanuelle Huynh which she finished in 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s when she started her career as a performer alongside Emmanuelle Huynh (Cribles, Augures) and Alain Buffard (Tout va bien). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Continuing her journey as a performer, Betty Tchomanga joined many different choreographers, each with a totally different aesthetic: Rapha\u00eblle Delaunay (Bitter Sugar), Fanny de Chaill\u00e9 (Passage \u00e0 l\u2019acte), Ga\u00ebl Sesbo\u00fc\u00e9 (Grammes), \u00c9l\u00e9onore Didier (Moi, mes copines, \u00e0 l\u2019instant o\u00f9 \u00e7a s\u2019arr\u00eate), Anne Collod (Le parlement des Invisibles), Herman Diephuis (Clan ; Mix), Nina Sant\u00e8s (Hymen Hymne ; R\u00e9publique Zombie). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2014 Betty started working with someone that would have a big influence on her journey: Marlene Monteiro Freitas. They started working together in 2014 and still do today (D\u2019ivoire et chair, les statues souffrent aussi ; Bacchantes, pr\u00e9lude pour une purge ; Mal Embriaguez Divina).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since her graduation from CNDC in 2009, the artist never dissociated the practice of the performer from that of the creator. The latter will take different forms: in 2012 she created \u201c\u2013A\u2013 ou il a s\u00fbrement peur de l\u2019eau le poisson\u201d in collaboration with musician Romain Mercier ; then in 2013, a show in situ called \u201cLe Rivage\u201d in collaboration with Oriane D\u00e9chery and J\u00e9r\u00f4me Andrieu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2016, Betty Tchomanga joined l\u2019Association Lola Gatt Productions chor\u00e9graphiques based in Brest, as an associated choreographer together with Ga\u00ebl Sesbo\u00fc\u00e9 and Marie-Laure Caradec. The very same year she choreographed and directed a play for three performers called Madame. Then at the beginning of 2020, she created a solo titled Mascarades which she performed and choreographed herself.
