NEW IN RESIDENCY: STEF ASSANDRI
Stef Assandri’s artistic practice involves textualities, costume design, cooking, and research-creation. In recent years, they have been exploring and investigating practices that connect topics such as migration, gender, and speciesism. Currently, they are working on a long-term research project that intertwines writing practices and plant-based cooking –as a way of rejecting speciesism by promoting ways of eating without non-human animal exploitation. Through this project, they are weaving an archive that takes various forms of expression, such as publications, performances, dinners, sound pieces, and more.
Stef will be joined during their wpZimmer residency by Iris Donders to work together on ‘The echoes of silence’.
Iris donders is a transdisciplinary artist who is interested in exploring the relationships with(in) the more-than-human worlds, starting from material-based research. She traces the journey of these materials—their past, their present and the futures they might inhabit. Through this process, she unravels the stories embedded within them, questioning their transformations, geographic movements, and how we relate to them. In performance, installations, and cooking, these narratives unfold with a focus on sensorial experience.
