Lan Hsin, Tu
Born and raised in Taiwan, Lan-Hsin, Tu (b. 1989) received her BA in Textile and Fashion Design in Taiwan, and an MFA in Media, Art, Design and Technology from Frank Mohr Institute, The Netherlands.
With an interdisciplinary approach to the genre of technology, fashion, art, and design, she re-examines the relationship between the materiality of textiles, human bodies and the environment. Her installations are usually combined with video graphics, fashion design, performance, and interactive visualization, seeking a breakthrough in technological innovation and fashion statements. The works from Lan-Hsin bring the audience-participants into a novel awareness of their bodies, helping them explore anew what the body can do. To extend the contemporary language of the wearable, she leaves an openness for imagination and concept.
